“GOMEL OPEN – 2022” – open ballroom dancing festival was held in Gomel.
The peculiarity of the current GOMEL OPEN, as the organizers note, was the fact that the competition has acquired the features of a festival – an open action, where participants could compete not only in the perfect demonstration of sports dance technique, but also show the beauty and aesthetics of their dance numbers, and the audience to see the demonstration performances of dancers. Such a small step from sport to art attracted a lot of attention – this year’s festival gathered a record number of participants and many spectators.
Liudmila Tsyrkun from Minsk is one of the organizers of the festival, assistant to the chief judge, coordinator of all services – the judging board, counting board. As she emphasizes, a clear organization is necessary for the dance action to go off without a hitch, for the couples and soloists to receive grades, to get points for their performances, to distribute places, to award diplomas and prizes.
” – Absolutely all regions of Belarus are represented in this competition. More than 20 clubs and associations, sport dance federations, over half a thousand participants, as well as members of the judging panel, teachers and couples from the Russian Federation, participants of demonstrations and special guests of GOMEL OPEN – vice-champions of Moscow in European dance Ivan Vorfolomeev and Yana Masharova, professional presenter from St. Petersburg Ivan Khokhlov – all this is a step towards the Gomel festival becoming international. To correspond to such a status, the organizers did their best: the scores of all jury members were counted instantly, the final tables were displayed on the big screen, the awarding ceremonies of a huge number of participants were held without fail”.
Honored guests of the festival, winners of championships and cups of Russia Ivan Vorfolomeev and Yana Masharova before their performance were pleased to note the high level of training of the Belarusian dancers.
“Sports dances are unique in their content. You can show both sports and acting skills in them,” said Ivan Vorfolomeev. – On the Gomel parquet we saw the desire and motivation of children. They are positive, bright, very fond of what they do, putting their soul into the dance.
